Umbrella Children’s Theatre is thrilled to present The Boy Who Would Be King or Merlina’s Magical Moppets Aid & Abet Arthur (His Almost Maybe Majesty) adapted by Rebecca Morgan and JoJo Sena-Tarnoff with original music by Melange, based on the legend of King Arthur. Our student actors range in age from 6 to 12 years old.
Without a king or queen, England must quickly crown a rightful ruler. Morgana wants her daughter Minnerva to reign, but the mysterious magician Merlina and her Moppets have prophesied a different destiny…
Minnie’s orphaned cousin Art toils away washing dishes, but his life changes one day as he roams, lost in the woods. Merlina and her Moppets have a lot of work to do if England is to be ruled by brains over brawn. There is going to be a tournament to crown a new King of all England, because no one has been able to pull out that sticky Sword in the Stone…yet.
UCT was founded in 1988 as Southwest Children’s Theatre Productions by Rebecca Morgan and Celeste Allerton. For 36 years, the company has equipped thousands of Northern New Mexico youth with skills that serve them as performers and human beings today, and prepare them for challenges faced tomorrow. Through a generous combination of grants and audience support, we are offering our 2024 season tuition free.
